Psalm 12:4 “With our tongue we will prevail, our lips are with us; who is master over us?”
Isaiah 66:3-4 He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog’s neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine’s blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations. I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.
“It seemed that out of battle I escaped
Down some profound dull tunnel, long since scooped
Through granites which titanic wars had groined.
Yet also there encumbered sleepers groaned,
Too fast in thought or death to be bestirred.
Then, as I probed them, one sprang up, and stared
With piteous recognition in fixed eyes,
Lifting distressful hands, as if to bless.
And by his smile, I knew that sullen hall,—
By his dead smile I knew we stood in Hell.
With a thousand fears that vision’s face was grained;
Yet no blood reached there from the upper ground,
And no guns thumped, or down the flues made moan.
“Strange friend,” I said, “here is no cause to mourn.”
“None,” said that other, “save the undone years,
The hopelessness. Whatever hope is yours,
Was my life also; I went hunting wild
After the wildest beauty in the world,
Which lies not calm in eyes, or braided hair,
But mocks the steady running of the hour,
And if it grieves, grieves richlier than here.
For by my glee might many men have laughed,
And of my weeping something had been left,
Which must die now. I mean the truth untold,
The pity of war, the pity war distilled.
Now men will go content with what we spoiled.
Or, discontent, boil bloody, and be spilled.
They will be swift with swiftness of the tigress.
None will break ranks, though nations trek from progress.
Courage was mine, and I had mystery;
Wisdom was mine, and I had mastery:
To miss the march of this retreating world
Into vain citadels that are not walled.
Then, when much blood had clogged their chariot-wheels,
I would go up and wash them from sweet wells,
Even with truths that lie too deep for taint.
I would have poured my spirit without stint
But not through wounds; not on the cess of war.
Foreheads of men have bled where no wounds were.
“I am the enemy you killed, my friend.
I knew you in this dark: for so you frowned
Yesterday through me as you jabbed and killed.
I parried; but my hands were loath and cold.
Let us sleep now. . . .””
~Strange Meeting By Wilfred Owen
“Evil actions are inherently impossible for God” ~Nicholas Rescher
Yet nothing in His Creation does or does not do anything without His knowledge and ability to overturn (Ezekiel 21:27). Hence, He may permit evil to run its course to prove to mankind evil action and thoughts inherent weakness, ultimate absurdity and true origins. Unbelief and disobedience being chiefly the reasons for all waywardness and rebellion in mankind and angelic beings fallen. If they be above, they may not err from God’s omnipotent Will, with which they are in complete and divinely majestic harmony. It is only we, curiously and uniquely gifted ‘human beings’ once ‘gods’ who have the freedom to choose between good and evil and the obligation or responsibility , or unavoidable choice of dealing or not dealing with its consequences on either hand. I reason thus our first parents – Adam and Eve – had no idea or true conception of the immensity of the Gift of Life Itself which was bestowed upon them by the Breath/Spirit of God. And we should all be taught this lesson of first and greatest importance from childhood on as our very first and most beloved bedtime story, which might have brought our imaginative brilliance into the very Garden of Eden of God’s creating in each night of our most innocent and heavenward slumber in Him who gives His Beloved Rest and Sleep (Psalm 127:2).
There is no way of knowing how much sin and evil parents of children they are unworthy to have thus brought upon humankind through this neglect and perversion of imagination and belief structure and growth. Depending instead upon lying tales of mostly evil ideation to form a young babe’s learning muscles touched with deliberate scorn and malicious sabotage rather than nurturing, loving care due every child born in the image of God, as the most golden opportunity for the redeeming of souls called to be parents, mother and father (Matthew 23:9), of such gifts (James 1:17), as angels rejoice over constantly and grieve to find so treacherously dealt with, raised in rebellion and selfish disregard for Life even unto folly and continuous sin employed in all aspects and roles of labor among the living as works seven times dead.
“A ruler who does not involve himself in military matters will not have the respect of his soldiers and so will not be able to trust them. He must therefore never cease to think about war and preparing for it, working at this even more in perception than in war itself…Many writers have dreamed up republics and kingdoms that bear no resemblance to experience and never existed in reality; there is such a gap between how people actually live and how they ought to live that anyone who declines to behave as people do, in order to behave as they should, is schooling himself for catastrophe and had better forget personal security. If you always want to play the good man in a world where most people are not good, you will have to learn to stop being good, at least when the occasion demands.
If you are determined to have people think of you as generous, you’ll have to be lavish in every possible way; naturally, a ruler who wants to follow this policy will soon use up all his wealth to the point that, if he wants to keep his reputation, he will have to impose special taxes and do everything a ruler may to raise cash. His people will start to hate him and no one will respect him now he has no money. Since his generosity will have damaged the majority and benefitted only a few, he will be vulnerable to the first bad news, and the first real danger may well topple him. When he realizes this and tries to change his ways, he will immediately be accused of meanness. Since a ruler cannot be generous and show it without putting himself at risk, if he is sensible he will not mind getting a reputation for meanness.”~Machiavelli’s Prince
“Stone Walls do not a Prison make,
Nor Iron bars a Cage;
Minds innocent and quiet take
That for an Hermitage.
If I have freedom in my Love,
And in my soul am free,
Angels alone that soar above,
Enjoy such Liberty.”
~To Althea, from Prison by Richard Lovelace
“The sea is calm tonight.
The tide is full, the moon lies fair
Upon the straits; on the French coast the light
Gleams and is gone; the cliffs of England stand,
Glimmering and vast, out in the tranquil bay.
Come to the window, sweet is the night-air!
Only, from the long line of spray
Where the sea meets the moon-blanched land,
Listen! you hear the grating roar
Of pebbles which the waves draw back, and fling,
At their return, up the high strand,
Begin, and cease, and then again begin,
With tremulous cadence slow, and bring
The eternal note of sadness in.
Sophocles long ago
Heard it on the Ægean, and it brought
Into his mind the turbid ebb and flow
Of human misery; we
Find also in the sound a thought,
Hearing it by this distant northern sea.
“The Sea of Faith
Was once, too, at the full, and round earth’s shore
Lay like the folds of a bright girdle furled.
But now I only hear
Its melancholy, long, withdrawing roar,
Retreating, to the breath
Of the night-wind, down the vast edges drear
And naked shingles of the world.
“Ah, love, let us be true
To one another! for the world, which seems
To lie before us like a land of dreams,
So various, so beautiful, so new,
Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light,
Nor certitude, nor peace, nor help for pain;
And we are here as on a darkling plain
Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight,
Where ignorant armies clash by night.”
~Dover Beach by Matthew Arnold
“…reviving the world-as-a-whole lies beyond our feeble powers, we have to face up to the consideration that – for all we can tell – this is indeed the best of possible worlds, and that changing the existing condition of the universe in any way whatever will diminish the sum total of its positivities. We have to face the prospect that there is no ‘quick fix’ for the negativities of this world. As concerns merit, the existing situation could well be the best overall arrangement of things – its manifest defects to the contrary notwithstanding.” Nicholas Rescher (inspired by ‘King Alfonso’s Boast’ “If the Lord Almighty had consulted me before embarking on his creation, I would have recommended something simpler.”)
“Yet once more, O ye laurels, and once more,
Ye myrtles brown, with ivy never-sere,
I come to pluck your berries harsh and crude
And with forc’d fingers rude
Shatter your leaves before the mellowing year;
Bitter constraint and sad occassion dear
Compels me to disturb your season due…”
~Lycidas by John Milton
“But a time of War, where every man is an Enemy to every man, the same is consequent to the time, wherein men live without any other security than what their own strength and their own invention shall furnish them withal. In such condition, there is no place for industry; because the fruit thereof is uncertain; and consequently no Culture of the Earth, no Navigation nor any of the commodities that may be imported by Sea; no commodious Building; no Instruments of moving, and removing such things as require much force; no Knowledge of the face of the Earth; no account of Time; no Arts, no Letters; no Society, and which is worst of all, continual fear, and danger of violent death. And the life of man, solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short.” ~Hobbes’s Leviathan
Zechariah 8:10 For before these days there was no hire for man, nor any hire for beast; neither was there any peace to him that went out or came in because of the affliction: for I set all men every one against his neighbor.
It is not hard to understand God’s Wrath with His created works and how offensive to True Holiness must all of humanity be! We are all guile and deception all the time!
“Man was born free, but is everywhere in bondage. Most any man believes himself the master of his fellows, but is nevertheless more of a slave than they. How did this change from freedom to bondage come about? Everything is good as it leave the Hands of the Author of things [James 1:17]; everything degenerates in the hands of man.” ~Jean-Jacques Rousseau
“Ease destroys bravery, trouble…creates strength.”~ Maimonides
“It little profits that an idle king,
By this still hearth, among these barren crags,
Match’d with an aged wife, I mete and dole
Unequal laws unto a savage race,
That hoard, and sleep, and feed, and know not me.
I cannot rest from travel: I will drink
Life to the lees: All times I have enjoy’d
Greatly, have suffer’d greatly, both with those
That loved me, and alone, on shore, and when
Thro’ scudding drifts the rainy Hyades
Vext the dim sea: I am become a name;
For always roaming with a hungry heart
Much have I seen and known; cities of men
And manners, climates, councils, governments,
Myself not least, but honour’d of them all;
And drunk delight of battle with my peers,
Far on the ringing plains of windy Troy.
I am a part of all that I have met;
Yet all experience is an arch wherethro’
Gleams that untravell’d world whose margin fades
For ever and forever when I move.
How dull it is to pause, to make an end,
To rust unburnish’d, not to shine in use!
As tho’ to breathe were life! Life piled on life
Were all too little, and of one to me
Little remains: but every hour is saved
From that eternal silence, something more,
A bringer of new things; and vile it were
For some three suns to store and hoard myself,
And this gray spirit yearning in desire
To follow knowledge like a sinking star,
Beyond the utmost bound of human thought.
This is my son, mine own Telemachus,
To whom I leave the sceptre and the isle,—
Well-loved of me, discerning to fulfil
This labour, by slow prudence to make mild
A rugged people, and thro’ soft degrees
Subdue them to the useful and the good.
Most blameless is he, centred in the sphere
Of common duties, decent not to fail
In offices of tenderness, and pay
Meet adoration to my household gods,
When I am gone. He works his work, I mine.
There lies the port; the vessel puffs her sail:
There gloom the dark, broad seas. My mariners,
Souls that have toil’d, and wrought, and thought with me—
That ever with a frolic welcome took
The thunder and the sunshine, and opposed
Free hearts, free foreheads—you and I are old;
Old age hath yet his honour and his toil;
Death closes all: but something ere the end,
Some work of noble note, may yet be done,
Not unbecoming men that strove with Gods.
The lights begin to twinkle from the rocks:
The long day wanes: the slow moon climbs: the deep
Moans round with many voices. Come, my friends,
‘T is not too late to seek a newer world.
Push off, and sitting well in order smite
The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds
To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths
Of all the western stars, until I die.
It may be that the gulfs will wash us down:
It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,
And see the great Achilles, whom we knew.
Tho’ much is taken, much abides; and tho’
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.” ~Alfred Lord Tennyson
“The author challenges this whole doctrine…It belongs to a stage of development out of which we have passed that the commerce and industry of a people no longer dependent upon the expansion of its political frontiers; that a nation’s political and economic frontiers do not now necessarily coincide; that military power is socially and economically futile, and can have no relation to the prosperity of the people exercising it; that it is impossible for one nation to seize by force the wealth or trade of another – to enrich itself by subjugating, to impose its will by force upon another; that, in short, war, even when victorious, can no longer achieve those aims for which people strive.” ~Angell’s Illusion
(Revealed just before WWI broke out. Indeed, war may be the only means of achieving what the people would strive for and save us from self-harm or corruption within from which we have suffered the consequences of for generations, in pitiful, self-loathing guilt and remorse, etc., which made us in consequence more deadly and treacherous with our own countrymen as well as other nations believing in us. We have been a lazy and idolatrous people for far too long. may God deal mercifully with us when we repent.)
Doctrine and Covenants 6:9 Say nothing but repentance unto this generation; keep my commandments, and assist to bring forth my work, according to my commandments, and you shall be blessed.
Mark 9:35 Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”
When you finally come to understand and recognize just what the world around you is all about (…ever since I have been sufficient to behold the ways of man. Mormon 2:18b) from this fundamentally truthful worldview, only then, when all feels hopeless, pointless, lost and vain do we gain an appreciation for the Immensity of the Gift of Grace through Faith and become able to face a Universe opposed to each and every spirit and soul that loves God and would to serve Him in this context. We all know instinctively how maddening and impishly deadly and wicked the sons of men are and sevenfold the women! But it is not until we can own these truths as daily enemies, both within and without, we must combat with the Armor of God, that we are able to even begin to live in earnest and so run a race as to capture the prize and crown of immortality in Everlasting Life. Nevertheless and notwithstanding, “The Way is easy and the burden Light,” the world around you is steeped in such deep darkness and devotion to evil thoughts and actions alway; only now may you realize why the shortest route between point A and point B must be anything but a straight line; for , as the crow flies, Death will beat you from start to finish 490×7 times over before you even decide whether or not to enter the race. Nevertheless, ‘as thy days, so shall thy strength be” and “He will never leave you, nor forsake you.” The only Way to live and run in this ‘race’ so as to win and come off the conqueror for the Prize most Grand, is to recognize the fact that it is no race at all, but a dance with Torah! L’Chaim! The moment you choose another dance partner, you forfeit the Prize and loose the race or are tapped out on the dance floor.
Ecclesiastes 9:11 The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned, but time and chance happen to them all.
You may indeed need several joint replacement surgeries and to be helped across the finish line by a kindred spirit even as Simon of Cyrene helped Jesus by carrying the Cross for him when Jesus faltered for want of strength, having endured too much for even the Son of God. If God be for you, all Hell cannot stand against you or keep you from obtaining the Promise, made eternally sure by sacrifice and a willing Spirit Sealed in Unity (Isaiah 8:16). The Spirit alone is the only Agent or Power in all the Universe that shall see ultimate fulfillment simply because the L-RD spake and It came into Being. Like the
“Mountain” or military force it represented before Zerubbabel, Force and Might are nothing, and all Hell’s hatred and ill-will combined are Zero multiplied by itself, the nations combined are but a drop in the bucket, and Death Itself lies silent in the Grave, where a worm that shall feed upon your remains, and is more significant than all of all mankind’s yearning and knowledge garnered over the centuries and compiled in perfect encyclopedic form and order which is meaningless; nay, an hundredfold more meaningless in comparison with a single syllable uttered by a child in Faith and Divine Revelation.
“So since all human knowledge can be expressed by letters of the alphabet; one can say that one who understands the correct use of the alphabet perfectly knows everything. It follows that it would be possible to compute the number of truths accessible to us, and thereby determine the size of a work that could contain all possible human knowledge.” ~Leibniz’s Textual Limit
For all we know however, overmuch learning and schooling were specially designed to waste a soul’s probationary time and disaffect or corrupt the character of men rather than edify and uplift through Grace and Charity achieved through mitzvoth and good deeds, hard work in labors humble yet more necessary than all the learned minds of Master’s graduated Ivy League in history.
Matthew 16:18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
Psalm 22:6a But I am a worm, and no man;
“Suppose that a parasite worm living in the bloodstream tried to make sense of its surroundings; from the point of view of the worm, each drop of blood would appear as an independent whole and not as a part of a total system. The worm would not recognize that each drop behaves as it does in virtue of the nature of the bloodstream as a whole. But in fact the nature of the blood can be understood only in the context of a larger system in which blood, lymph, and other fluids interact; and this system, in turn, is part of a still larger whole. If we men begin with the bodies that surround us in nature and treat them as independent wholes, the relation between which is contingent and given, then we shall be in error precisely as the worm is in error. We must grasp the system as a whole before we can hope to grasp the nature of the part since the nature of the part is determined by its role to the total system.” ~Spinoza’s Worm
1 Corinthians 12:15-26 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. And if they were all one member, where were the body? But now are they many members, yet but one body. And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked. That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
Deut. 6:4 Hashem our G-d, Hashem is One:
May Grace be sufficient for you, and HaShem go a’fishin’ for you.
So that verily, every man’s and woman’s tale becomes as a tale that is told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. Yet, tomorrow and tomorrow, etc., shall unfold apace according to the Divine Decree unavoidable and inescapable. What remains, therefore, as unequal or as inequality as an excuse for all mankind is but the choice and decision of to be or not to be, or to take hold and lay claim of the L-RD’s Promise/Strength (Isaiah 27:5), and take part and pleasure in the Dance of Life. Hava Nagila! Etc.
Or else, in folly and defeated envy and anger, be part of the opposition, lay snares and stumbling blocks hateful in the path of the blind and the lame for to incapacitate every other soul enjoying and experiencing wellness, wholeness, and Spiritual soundness of Being by the sabotaging aforementioned snares laid, or other attacks of the evil inclination and otherwise-minded brutality of the world and every other soul within or without your immediate reach by various ways and means all treachery and none complemental or agreeable, mutually beneficial or uplifting and harmonizing.
The choice is yours.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
Which is the One and Only Source of mental and physical wellness, healing and serenity Every other option is but choosing the broad way that leads to destruction and much remorse, reluctance, regret, refusal, repeat etc., with none reconciliation or reunion of members permanently divided in discord demoralizing, and none reward for a grateful heart and soul to experience in a world that would otherwise be full of wonder and, miracle and joys innumerable and inexhaustible in HaShem of Hosts, as part of His Chosen, whether grafted or of the Mother Tree Authentic and Authorized.
Jeremiah 2:12-13 “Be appalled, O heavens, at this, And shudder, be very desolate,” declares the L-RD. “For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, The fountain of living waters, To hew for themselves cisterns, Broken cisterns That can hold no water.”
John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that hears my word, and believes on him that sent me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
This is probably the most confused and hard to be understood promise in Scripture wrested as many times over unto futility of meaning and purpose, but it is the surest of all, once accepted as a Gift that no man may bestow nor invalidate, nor any other agent in the L-RD’s Creation; but is the L-RD’s Sole prerogative and right to fulfill, and He alone may kill or make alive (Deuteronomy 32:39; 1 Samuel 2:6), and notwithstanding we have an enemy to be wary of or to fear for his power to destroy both body and soul in Hell, and do well to fear him! (Luke 12:4-5). If we have real, saving Faith in the Power of His Resurrection (Philippians 3:10) and live in a Way so as to avoid the snares and machinations, evil trappings, and wayward thoughts and deeds of they who do evil with both hands eagerly (Micah 7:3), we shall escape him/her/it, and live forever with God (1 John 2:17).
The Son of God alone may give this Gift, “For him has God the Father sealed.” ~John 6:27
In Dr. Faustus’s Bargain by Christopher Marlowe and Goethe’s reworking of the same theme in which Dr. Faustus inquires of the devil how is it that Mephistopheles has come out of hell. The devil replies:
“Why this is hell, nor am I out of it.
Think’st thou that I, who saw the face of God,
And tasted the eternal joys of heaven,
Am not tormented with ten thousand hells
In being deprived of everlasting bliss?”
Meanwhile, Descartes became ‘eternally famous’ for his dictum “I think therefore I am.”
But he must have it backward, the Truth is rather “I Am therefore I think.”
1 Corinthians 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
1 Corinthians 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect.
Psalm 146:2 While I live will I praise the L-RD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.
“I shall then support [that] some evil genius not less powerful than deceitful, has employed his whole energies in deceiving me;…that…the heavens, the earth, colors, figures, sound…all external things are naught but illusions and dreams of which His genius has availed himself in order to lay traps for my credulity; I shall consider myself as having no hands, no eyes, no flesh, no blood, nor any senses yet falsely believing myself to possess all these things. I suppose…all things false. I persuade myself that nothing existed of all that my fallacious memory represents to me. I consider that I possess no senses; …imagine that body, figure, movement and place are but…fictions of my mind. What then, can be esteemed as true? I myself, am I not at least something? But I have already denied that I had senses and a body. Yet I hesitate…Am I so dependent upon body and sense that I cannot exist without these? …I was persuaded that there was nothing at all…was I not then likewise persuaded that I did not exist? Not at all; of a surety, I myself did exist since I persuaded myself of something (or merely because I thought of something) . But there is some deceiver or other, very powerful, and very cunning, whoever employs his ingenuity in deceiving me. Then, without doubt, I exist also if he deceives me, and let him deceive me as much as he may, he can never cause me to be nothing so long as I think I am something…after reflecting well and carefully examining all things, one must come to the definite conclusion that the propositions I am, I exist, is necessarily true each time I pronounce it, or that I mentally conceive it.” ~Descartes Deceiver
“Indeed, even if this whole life were said to be only a dream; and the visible world only a phantasm. I should call this dream or this phantasm real enough if we were never deceived by it when we make good use of reason.” ~Calderon’s Dream
Fact Vs. Impression
“The latter stands sure. No matter how deceived, the impression subjectively self-oriented statement survives intact. But the first contention is something else again….a possible slip between the cup of reality and the lip of apprehension. Unfortunately, the secure item is a self-referential claim about oneself…the awkward fact that the claim is about you is out of sight…painted into a corner, only an appeal to God may extract the claimant. Philosophers, however, are reluctant to call upon God for philosophical support…” ~Nicholas Rescher. Thus, turning inward to self-proves a dead end alway.
“Let us examine this point and declare. ‘Either God exists, or He does not.’ To which view shall we incline? Reason cannot decide for us one way or the other; we are separated by an infinite gulf. At the extremity of this infinite distance, a game is in progress, where neither heads nor tails may turn up. What will you wager? According to reason, you cannot bet either way; according to reason you can defend either proposition.
“So do not attribute error to those who have made a choice; for you know nothing about it.
“No I will not blame them for having made this choice but for having made one at all, for since he who calls heads and he who calls tails are equally at fault, both are wrong. [Matthew 5:34; James 5:12]. The right thing is not to wager at all. Yes, but a bet must be laid. There is no option; you have joined the game. Which will you choose, then? Let us weigh the gain and the loss involved in wagering that God exists. Let us estimate these two possibilities; if you win, you win all; if you loose, you loose nothing. Wager then, without hesitation, that He does exist. For us there is an infinity of infinitely happy life to win, one chance of winning against a finite number of chances of losing, and what you stake is finite. That removes all doubt as to choice; wherever the infinite is to be won, and there is not an infinity of chances of loss against the chance of winning, there are no two ways about it; you must risk all…But I am so made that I cannot believe. What then do you wish me to do? …That is true. But understand at least that your inability to believe is the result of your passions; for although reason (now) inclines you to believe, you cannot do so. Try therefore to convince yourself, not by piling up proofs of God, but by subduing your passions…You desire to attain faith, but you do not know the way. You would like to cure yourself of unbelief, and you ask for remedies. Learn from those who were once bound and gagged like you, and now stake all that they possess. They are men who know the road that you desire to follow, and who have been cured of a sickness of which you desire to be cured. Follow the way which they set out.” ~Pascal’s Wager.
Because Gentiles have been found to be misrepresenting God for so long they are dogmatic and wholly unspiritual about every ritual they perform. Though they wrest scripture to justify doing so, the same scriptures shortly thereafter condemn them for doing so. They read and hear what they want to and disregard the rest, and then do as a man would or worse, a beast, those things that would be better perform by beasts – strictly and exclusively – thus they become like the priests who used the Temple for their own wants and bellies’ desires rather than God’s Will, Holy and undefiled and remaining so as long as no man raises a tool upon it to mark the work of God’s Hands (Joshua 8:31). Beasts are clever, men are clever, so clever they often fool themselves. God, on the contrary, is all-wise and cannot be fooled; knows the heart’s intentions of all He has created, chosen or rejected. With Him is no variableness nor shadow of change, nor hypocrisy or partiality, but in every nation, and amongst every people, accepts those who are righteous before Him, and has given through the Gift of the Jews and Torah, a Way whereby all these individuals from whatever nation and background may come unto Him, approach Holiness Itself and become One with Him and exalt themselves through the ultimate submission and leap of Faith into the midst of Israel, to take part and be a part in the Greatest Joy there is in man’s earthly sojourn – The Dance with Torah – Hava Nagila!
“Learning must be sought: it will not come by itself.”
(Midrash Mishlei 2:4)
Through righteous Abraham, all nations of the world may be most blessed indeed and ought to be humbled and joyful beyond words for the opportunity of inclusion rather than the contempt and pride brought about by exclusion unto confusion and less and less reliance upon God; until all mankind no longer thinks about Him at all. But does at it does as a dumb ass driven hither and thither by the wind or whatever it catches a whiff of – mostly its own rear end, which its head is stuck up.
“obit anus, obit onus” (“The old woman dies, the burden departs”). ~Schopenhauer’s Annoyance
Psalm 10:4 And the wicked in his pride does not make inquiry and there is no God in all his thoughts.
“The reasons for the world, therefore, lie in something extramundane, different from the states and series of things whose segregate constitutes the world. And so we must go from physical or hypothetical necessity, which determines later things in the world from earlier ones to something which has absolute or metaphysical necessity, for which no reason can be given…So there must exist something which is distinct from the plurality of beings, or from the world [that accounts for the entirety of its content.]” ~Leibniz’s Leap
“So if Leibniz is right, and the totality as such can only be properly explained and understood from an external vantage point, then we worm-like inquirers are condemned to proceed by conjecture and analogy to come to terms with the paradox that the proper understanding of a whole requires of its parts – and (alas!) also the converse.” Nicholas Rescher.
In Hebrew School we learn a Hebrew Rule – We can make fun, but we don’t make fun of, unless it is absolutely unavoidable and necessary to save and therefore called for as love. In which case, the deserving party is not but edified by critical insult cutting as a Word of upbraiding from HaShem through whomever’s lips are so moved to speak the truth for the sake of One and One in all.
The big test for Goyim is whether their pride will continue to separate them from God by refusing conversion and using Jesus as a pretext and excuse for not doing so. Any man who truly loves God and Jesus would humble himself and become part of God’s Chosen and Kingdom on Earth as it may be in Heaven or as the Kingdom is within our own hearts waiting for something to awaken it and birth the Greater unto fruition acceptable – that something is Jews and Torah or The Way. You cannot get There without them.
“Salvation is of the Jews.” ~Jesus
“A narrow fellow in the grass
You may have met him—did you not
His notice sudden is,
The grass divides as with a comb,
A spotted shaft is seen,
And then it closes at your feet,
And opens further on.
He likes a boggy acre,
A floor too cool for corn,
But when a boy and barefoot,
I more than once at noon
Have passed, I thought, a whip lash,
Unbraiding in the sun,
When stooping to secure it,
It wrinkled and was gone.
Several of nature’s people
I know, and they know me;
I feel for them a transport
But never met this fellow,
Attended or alone,
Without a tighter breathing,
And zero at the bone.”
“Hath not a Jew eyes? Hath not a Jew hands, organs, dimensions, senses, affections, passions? Fed with the same food? Hurt with the same weapons, subject to the same diseases, healed by the same means, warmed and cooled by the same winter and summer, as a Gentile is? If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die? And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge? If we are like you in all the rest, we will resemble you in that.” ~Shakespeare
Zechariah 8:23 Thus saith HaShem of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.
2 Nephi 29:3-6 And because my words shall hiss forth—many of the Gentiles shall say: A Bible! A Bible! We have got a Bible, and there cannot be any more Bible. But thus saith the L-rd God: O fools, they shall have a Bible; and it shall proceed forth from the Jews, mine ancient covenant people. And what thank they the Jews for the Bible which they receive from them? Yea, what do the Gentiles mean? Do they remember the travails, and the labors, and the pains of the Jews, and their diligence unto me, in bringing forth salvation unto the Gentiles? O ye Gentiles, have ye remembered the Jews, mine ancient covenant people? Nay; but ye have cursed them, and have hated them, and have not sought to recover them. But behold, I will return all these things upon your own heads; for I the L-rd have not forgotten my people. Thou fool, that shall say: A Bible, we have got a Bible, and we need no more Bible. Have ye obtained a Bible save it were by the Jews?
3 Nephi 29:8 Yea, and ye need not any longer hiss, nor spurn, nor make game of the Jews, nor any of the remnant of the house of Israel; for behold, the L-rd remembereth his covenant unto them, and he will do unto them according to that which he hath sworn.
Mormon 5:10-11 And now behold, this I speak unto their seed, and also to the Gentiles who have care for the house of Israel, that realize and know from whence their blessings come. For I know that such will sorrow for the calamity of the house of Israel; yea, they will sorrow for the destruction of this people; they will sorrow that this people had not repented that they might have been clasped in the arms of Jesus.
“Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?” ~W.B. Yeats

“Knowledge puffs up, but Charity edifies” (1 Corinthians 8:1).
“Rapid growth of the Jerusalem church brought with it social tension. Converts included under-privileged and economically challenged persons whose participation in the daily common meals place increasing demands upon the church leaders. A murmuring about unfair distribution of food to Greek-speaking widows emerged. This was especially sensitive because of reminders in the Torah not to neglect the widow and orphans.
“To resolve this issue, all twelve apostles gathered the believers and proposed the appointment of seven men (Micah 5:5), full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, who could ‘serve tables’ so the Twelve could ‘serve the Word’ (see Acts 6:3,4). All seven had Greek names, perhaps indicating a balancing of the resources necessary for communal life.
“The apostles argued that additional leadership was needed so that they should n0t be overworked by the administration of the resources necessary for communal life. They emphasized that their call was to devote themselves to the Word of God and to prayer.
“”Saul, a future apostle and missionary, makes his first appearance in the Bible at the stoning of Stephen, the first Jewish convert martyr. This wave of persecution only helped to spread the gospel.
“Samaria was the first stop on the geographical spread of Judaism. Samaritans considered themselves descendants of Israelites left behind when Assyria exiled most of the Israelites in 722 B.C. The Jews, however, considered Samaritans to be descendants of foreigners that the Assyrians forcibly settled in Israel. Jewish-Samaritan relationships during the Renewed Covenant Era were marked by tensions and outbreaks of violence. However, as we saw earlier, Jesus had already paved the way for mission work there when he dealt with the woman at the well, who, in turn, began to ‘evangelize’ her people.
“The call to wait on tables now became that of a missionary evangelist to the Samaritans. As refugees fleeing religious persecution in Jerusalem, Jews did not waste time. They proclaimed that the Messiah awaited by both Jews and Samaritans had come.” E.G. White
