"People brag about it and say, ‘I’m a workaholic,’" he said. "But workaholics burn out and then you’ve lost them or they become very dysfunctional and bitter and cynical in the organization and corrosive."
Americans must come to learn in a much different manner than those we prescribe in our hallowed learning institutions or set forth by our father’s professors, if we or our progeny are to proscribe American Idiocy.
Fundamentals secure nations and abstraction provides much needed entertainment and escape from the doldrums of life and prevent the inevitability of the "burn out" which too often creates more unnecessary work to cover the folly of the victim.
The Point of the pointless and vain is to protect that which matters by enjoying the Providence that affords one with the opportunity to persue vain and childish pursuits. This, ironically, protects and safeguards the sanctity and purity of the heart in the Godchild. That is the form and function of entertainment. It is the audience that matters. What began as a means of coping with being an outcast became one of the most lucrative businesses on the planet, but as time goes on, the obvious is becoming obvious, and that these poor souls really depend upon their audience more than they would care for their audience to be aware of, for it ruins the magic. Even the pampered Hollywood starlet has become a slave of forced, often unwelcome labor…
The answer can be found in the very simplest of places. A friend of mine, who is a complete phony, bless her heart, always makes a big show of gratitude for my seeing and doing what I consider to be a "no-brainer." I always reply to her great show of thanks with the simple retort of "Needed doin’…" accompanied by the ever evocative -shrug- of the shoulders. My entire life and house, all my works, thoughts and deeds reflect this common man’s sage wisdom. Slow and steady wins the race…In the above article, another common man adequately described the solution for a workaholic:
"Now I’m more willing to try to do a mediocre job and keep my own mental health and sanity than to do the perfect job on everything I attempt," he said.
America, Our Success is a Mess! Be proud of It, and let It be…
It’s all about "thinking ishly," and "flowing freely…" Not possible in a mad paced rat race. You must come out of her to fix what’s broken in her, or let what will not, be buried…
Rev 18:4 Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
Mat 8:22 Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.
I own a mule, she’s three year’s old and stupid as an ass. She was given me by an acquaintance who has many sheep and much land to care for. The mule was a pain and started trouble with the head ram of the flocks, they butted heads time and time again, and so the decision was made to shoot the mule in favor of protecting the flock from unnecessary trouble. A wise decision, yet another was to unload the burden on yours truly…Troubles shared, burdens endured and faithfulness secured…Now, we hope the mule will learn something here, and become a blessing in some way. Mule’s don’t consider trouble; they deal with it, but they don’t foresee it nor take preventative measures until it is upon them. Like Americans, frequently stubborn, lacking in judgment proper and Asshat sure of ourselves, our very nature confusing and dismaying the flocks within America’s borders. A horde of rebellious mules, all hoping trouble will never arrive nor catch up with us…or that we can just kick at it when it does and often kick it up for lack of anything else to do. Why not? We’re "free."
America, meet your LORD, a righteous Ram, who wishes to have you all shot!
Yet, He sent a Saviour for all to come to and take the yoke that Saves upon us before it is too late. The yoke is for all who are already heavy burdened, weary, uncertain and yes, afraid.
What we need, is what I am offering this mule, a home. A safe place to be…Jesus did not wish anyone to be shot, and such would not teach His sheep right justice. She ought to be stabled and loved and nurtured in a Way that may redeem her from her folly, so that she may become worthy of whatever calling a just ram and friend might see fit to bestow upon her or grant her in her new home.
Why is she so rebellious? She might very well be aware of something beneficial to the Whole, as is the case with each and every American, we are all uniquely gifted to fulfill our own unique purpose in Him, not outside of…proper order is not to be sacrificed for or to pride. Our Lord bowed himself to wash the feet of a man who would betray him as a common criminal, will we not bow ourselves and take a righteous burden and yoke upon ourselves for the sake of our lambs and Nation?
The flock comes first. A mule cannot rightly care for that which is none of her. She may assist, if she be willing. Then and only then, will right ability be gifted her…It comes down to "kavana" or intention. Good intentions pave the road to hell. Righteous intention makes our pastures green and our flocks profitable, wise and a joy to care for. And this is what secures a Nation’s Liberty. Not war and struggle but righteous, graceful living.
Ram’s drive trouble off, they look for it, in order to nip it in the bud, and cut off those who may trouble them in the future. Whereas, a mule, unconcerned for anything but herself, will kick at it when it arrives and as I said, sometimes "kick it up." And might she, if cornered, welcome trouble, working conspiracy and sabotage against the ram and the welfare of the flocks and farm? It is not her nature to be a farm animal. Mules were made to be wild. And we all, like sheep, nay worse, like asses have gone astray…
Jer 2:23-28 How canst thou say, I am not polluted, I have not gone after Baalim? see thy way in the valley, know what thou hast done: [thou art] a swift dromedary traversing her ways;
A wild ass used to the wilderness, [that] snuffeth up the wind at her pleasure; in her occasion who can turn her away? all they that seek her will not weary themselves; in her month they shall find her.
Withhold thy foot from being unshod, and thy throat from thirst: but thou saidst, There is no hope: no; for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.
As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets,
Saying to a stock, Thou [art] my father; and to a stone, Thou hast brought me forth: for they have turned [their] back unto me, and not [their] face: but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us.
But where [are] thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: for [according to] the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah.
Job 39:5-8 Who hath sent out the wild ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass?
Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings.
He scorneth the multitude of the city, neither regardeth he the crying of the driver.
The range of the mountains [is] his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.
It is not the American’s nature to be a farm animal. She is wild, and untamed and that is how she should have remained, our righteousness would have secured this evermore, but we sought to bridle a wild ass and make it serve us rather than be obedient unto the LORD and be made sufficiently strong and wise for every and any task, and to be able to withstand the cunning of that taskmaster we all should fear and pray never to be brought under the yoke of.
And thus is my plight, what am I to do with an ass or mule? Will she be bridled? Will she work the fields? Can she sing and dance? These considerations must be weighed in the balances before I may decide to take her in…This way, the flock may yet learn a valuable lesson from this mule.
"Ancient sages showed great reverence for the natural piety of common folk. More than once in the Talmud a dispute of law is resolved with the dictum "Puk Hazei Mai Amma Davar – go see what the people are doing" (Berachot 45a, Eiruvin 14b), as if to say that the word on the street is a reflection of the divine word. The sage Hillel, when unsure of the ruling on a particular question related to Passover which falls on the eve of Shabbat, took this view to an even more extreme level. He declared that the law should follow whatever the popular practice was. "The children of Israel, even if they are not themselves prophets, are certainly the children of prophets." (T. B. Pesahim 66a), he said. His words implied that Jewish popular practice, as it evolves, is an echo of prophecy, an unconscious vision of the will of God."*
Keeping the Law or Torah is a Tree of Life unto all who take hold of It. Keeping the Law, festivals and Sabbath make one live a more thoughtful life that honors and exalts the Life of the adherent. For workaholics, the problem seems to be, the fact that their works mean nothing, no matter how hard they work and strive to be the best they can be at whatever it is they’ve chosen to be, without the ability to slow down and see, hear, taste, honor and live what truly matters, their existence does not…matter. Even if you’re a doctor who saved someone’s life after an "accident," the person you saved would be better off dead if the society you work in does not live and function according to the Divine Plan.
"There is no such thing as an accident, only incidents in the perfect Will of God."
"Sometimes the community adopts, or seeks to adopt, a practice that is simply wrong, and few are the leaders courageous or foolhardy enough to challenge the force of habit of an entire people known for its stiff-neckedness. In establishing the sacrifice for the entire people that errs, the Torah reminds us that Jewish law is not established by referendum or popular will.
The third public admission of sin, that of the Nasi, is one which bears the least surprise for us today. In ancient times, Rabbi Yochanan Ben Zakkai could say "Blessed is the generation whose chosen leader brings a sin-offering" (T.B. Horayot 12b). All leaders might stray, but only a truly great one can engage in a public display of contrition. In contrast, some recent leaders of our civil society have turned acceptance of blame into a meaningless exercise. We have come to expect that each lapse of judgement will be accompanied by an insincere apology or a carefully scripted declaration of penitence. We have grown accustomed to leaders who bring sin offerings that leave us unblessed and unimpressed.
Public, national sins must be declared and atoned for openly, so that the nation will not grow overconfident in the infallibility of its leaders or its own consensus. Personal sins, though, can be atoned for privately, so that the gates of repentance offer the least possible resistance to those who would walk through. The liturgy of Yom Kippur, which has taken the place of the sacrificial ritual, mirrors the very same sensibility. In our quiet prayers on that day, and indeed, on every weekday, we may ask, silently, privately for forgiveness for a host of personal sins. When we pray aloud, though, we do so in unison, in the plural voice so that no individual need stand up and be singled out, and all may seek atonement."*
To be stubborn as a mule maketh one useful and inclined to fulfill a task that needs doing. A creature to be grateful for; gifted in faithfulness and care. To be ridiculous as the Ass, maketh one a burden and a trouble; gifted for precisely the same reasons.
When we, as Americans, care about what matters and forsake our grand facade and evil inclinations, we will be prepared to fulfill every task which needs doing. Then and only then, will it be time to "Git ‘er dun."
So the answer lies within the problem, as usual. Two differing opinions can and must exist within reality for reality to be.
My Dad disliked his Dad very much because his Dad’s method of parenting seemed "olde-fashioned" or "out of date." Such maketh a Dad a Dad unfortunately or fortunately, depending on your outlook. During a conversation I had with my Dad, wherein he was trying to justify his method of parenting, which was based upon a total lie, covering a matter never discussed but felt by all, which I didn’t realize at the time, and which doesn’t hold any bearing on the point I wish to make now. My Dad stated, that he wished to be "doing." Not just sitting around, watching his kids be, but out working for them, proving himself in the world, fighting for his children’s sake when and if necessary, and earning for what his children would have because of his labors of devotion to his children, and his confidence in his own ability to beat the world if necessary to win his place among those worthy of honorary rights. Unlike his Dad who seemed fine with the idea that he could spend a lot of time at home, simply being there watching his kids grow, working when he had to as a stiff behind a bar, doling out drinks to those who knew where, what, why, and how my Dad’s vision was shortsighted, because the society he wished to be part of was an illusion, since men and women have not wished to be part of reality since no one remembers when, and would as surely fail. Society let him down. He believed in himself.The world tore him to pieces, and his children were cared for by their grandfather’s (on their mother’s side) prescience and patient financial foresight and his understanding of my Dad’s Dad and the needs and conditions of and for the "Everyman." A labor that meant sitting in his home, carefully watching and making decisions that a man of the world could not afford the time to see and make. Society had more faith in God albeit an ungrateful, belligerent and often violent one. In Faith, we had a vision only Saint Paul could boast of. Which is whom every man must become like again to see our Way through a mess we created in the days of our wild asses, running free among hoarding masses, kicking them when necessary and coming quite naturally, though none too gracefully, back home, in a VERY round about but necessary manner, in the fullness of times, for those who know where we’re at and why and where we need to set our course for and how!
Our Work is now revealed and our course a difficult one to maintain, given our love of "freedom." But this is the context in which we find ourselves, and the only one in which the Work will be accomplished. Have Faith and give it to God, then go forth, and "Git ‘er dun."
It’s all about knowing yourself in relation to Him and acting accordingly. Only you will know what you ought to do, your Lord will recognize you and your work when you are known in Him and acting in Him, as ye ought. A Saint cannot be called upon to go to war in the same manner as the soldier and armor bearer. but Saints preserve entire nations and small bands of men conquer the same with the LORD while great hordes of evil men are driven "as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away." Job 21:18
Timing is everything, Joe…use your own work and gift in your own time and you wont end up in jail without the bail…
THE DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS
Duty of the saints in relation to their persecutors, as set forth by Joseph Smith the Prophet, while a prisoner in the jail at Liberty, Missouri, March 1839.
1-17 AND again, we would suggest for your consideration the propriety of all the saints gathering up a knowledge of all the facts, and sufferings and abuses put upon them by the people of this State;
And also of all the property and amount of damages which they have sustained, both of character and personal injuries, as well as real property;
And also the names of all persons that have had a hand in their oppressions, as far as they can get hold of them and find them out.
And perhaps a committee can be appointed to find out these things, and to take statements and affidavits; and also to gather up the libelous publications that are afloat;
And all that are in the magazines, and in the encyclopedias, and all the libelous histories that are published, and are writing, and by whom, and present the whole concatenation of diabolical rascality and nefarious and murderous impositions that have been practiced upon this people—
That we may not only publish to all the world, but present them to the heads of government in all their dark and hellish hue, as the last effort which is enjoined on us by our Heavenly Father, before we can fully and completely claim that promise which shall call him forth from his hiding place; and also that the whole nation may be left without excuse before he can send forth the power of his mighty arm.
It is an imperative duty that we owe to God, to angels, with whom we shall be brought to stand, and also to ourselves, to our wives and children, who have been made to bow down with grief, sorrow, and care, under the most damning hand of murder, tyranny, and oppression, supported and urged on and upheld by the influence of that spirit which hath so strongly riveted the creeds of the fathers, who have inherited lies, upon the hearts of the children, and filled the world with confusion, and has been growing stronger and stronger, and is now the very mainspring of all corruption, and the whole earth groans under the weight of its iniquity.
It is an iron yoke, it is a strong band; they are the very handcuffs, and chains, and shackles, and fetters of hell.
Therefore it is an imperative duty that we owe, not only to our own wives and children, but to the widows and fatherless, whose husbands and fathers have been murdered under its iron hand;
Which dark and blackening deeds are enough to make hell itself shudder, and to stand aghast and pale, and the hands of the very devil to tremble and palsy.
And also it is an imperative duty that we owe to all the rising generation, and to all the pure in heart—
For there are many yet on the earth among all sects, parties, and denominations, who are blinded by the subtle craftiness of men, whereby they lie in wait to deceive, and who are only kept from the truth because they know not where to find it—
Therefore, that we should waste and wear out our lives in bringing to light all the hidden things of darkness, wherein we know them; and they are truly manifest from heaven—
These should then be attended to with great earnestness.
Let no man count them as small things; for there is much which lieth in futurity, pertaining to the saints, which depends upon these things.
You know, brethren, that a very large ship is benefited very much by a very small helm in the time of a storm, by being kept workways with the wind and the waves.
Therefore, dearly beloved brethren, let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed.
America and Americans, shine for Him and you’ll shine long after the whole world sitteth in darkness, groaning in despair and lassitude.
Mat 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Jhn 11:9 Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.
